Abborrsjövalsen is a waltz from the province of Värmland, named for a lake (Perch Lake).

I learned it from Hans Bryntesson, one of the foremost fiddlers of Värmland.   He was born in 1921, died in 2018.  In 1984 he was awarded the Zorn medal in gold, the highest honor afforded fiddlers in Sweden.

Abborrsjövalsen is a tune he learned from his father, Anders Bryntesson (born 1871), who got it from his father, Brynte Nilsson (born 1829).

Here is a YouTube recording of a group of Värmland fiddlers playing Abborrsjövalsen.

To the left is a video of me playing Abborrsjövalsen.
