Barkbrödslåten

Barkbrödslåten is a tune from the town of Leksand, the province of Dalarna.   It is named for a period of famine when people had to make bread using powdered tree bark to extend their stores of flour.

In Leksand, people would go door to door collecting food to give to those who had none, and fiddlers in the group are said to have played this tune during the collections.
