Brudmarsch från Gästrikland
This Brudmarsch från Gästrikland is one of my all-time favorite bridal marches. I learned it in 1990 when interviewing fiddlers in Sweden for a series of videos.
I think it is very beautiful and expressive. I have played it at more than one wedding, my favorite being an outdoor wedding where I stood on a hill overlooking the crowd, playing this tune at full volume.
To the left is a picture from a wedding at a fiddle festival in Sweden in 1977. Several fiddlers were involved in the ceremony. Notice the traditional gold crown on the bride’s head.
