En Rolig Polkett

En Rolig Polkett is a bright tune with a title that translates to “A Fun Little Polka”.  It comes to us from the playing of J. Högman, a fiddler from the province of Gästrikland.

I learned it back in 1974 from Stig Sjödin, my mentor in the music of Gästrikland.

The dance called polkett varies from place to place, but is related to the polka, but with smaller steps.   A polkett tune is usually a good choice for the dance called snoa.

To the left is a YouTube video of me playing this delightful tune.
