Erik Isaks Polska is a beautiful 16th-note polska from Bergsjö, in the north of Hälsingland.
A version of the tune was annotated in 1923 for inclusion in the collection “Svenska Låtar”. In the book it called Erik Isak an “eccentric” who came from a long line of fiddlers.
The tune is typical for the Baroque-influenced style of the area, and is played by many fiddlers from there.
Here is a YouTube recording of Thore and Thuve Härdelin playing it. Father and daughter, they are from perhaps the most famous fiddling family in Hälsingland, covering 6 or more generations of outstanding players.
To the left, a video of me playing Erik Isaks Polska.
