This Gånglåt från Karlslunda is a very cheerful walking tune from the province of Småland. It comes from the repertoire of a fiddler named Oscar Olsson from Torsås. It is one of the more popular tunes among Småland fiddlers.
Småland as a province is noted for its hilly and rocky terrain. A large percentage of Swedish immigrants to America between 1840 and 1920 came from Småland.
While red houses with white trim are found everywhere in Sweden, they are often thought of as a Småland thing. To the left is a picture of a typical Småland cottage.
