Grönvalls Vals is a delightful little waltz from Skåne. It is named for a fiddler, Ola Grönvall, who used to play it.
Grönvall was a member of a very musical family. His father and brothers played, as well as other relatives.
Ola Grönvall was born in 1846, and died in 1919.
I learned the tune from a Skåne fiddler named Bonde Bondesson in 1974. He had a special technique for accenting certain notes, and I try to emulate his style when I play it.
Here to the left you can hear me play Grönvalls Vals as I learned it.
