Hii Pojkar (Hey Boys) is a favorite tune by Pelle Schenell, a great fiddler from Gnarp, in Hälsingland. He was born in 1855, and died in 1946.
In his 50’s he was winning fiddle contests, but quit that, as he did not really think that fiddlers should be rewarded in competition.
The tune is an even-rhythm polska, called hambo. The dance is one of the most common Swedish dances, a favorite even worldwide.
Hii Pojkar is one of the tunes most used at the annual hambo dancing contest, the Hälsinge-Hambo.
