Polska efter Olof Löfgren i Sveg
This is a typical northern Swedish “triplet” polska, also called “Lapp-Nils style”. The triplets are normally played with two bow strokes each, single stroke on the first note, and the other two slurred.
Sveg is a small town by US standards, with fewer than 3000 population. It is, however, the largest city in the province of Härjedalen.
Olof Löfgren was born in Sveg in 1865, and was both shoemaker and fiddler after his father. He was a valued wedding fiddler, and in 1911 won first prize in the first fiddle contest held in Sveg
