Schottis efter Fiskebäcken
This Schottis efter Fiskebäcken is a typical tune from the maritime province of Bohuslän, on the west coast of Sweden next to Norway. Bohuslän is noted for its extensive skärgård, or archipelago of thousands of islands.
A fiddler named Niklas Henriksson had a reputation among fiddlers in his region, and he was nicknamed “Fiskebäcken” after his town. His repertoire included many kinds of tunes not found elswhere in Sweden, as they were picked up from sailors from Poland, Germany, Denmark, Norway, and other countries bordering the North Sea.
Little is known about Fiskebäcken other than his name, and that he was of a generation of fiddlers from the late 19th to early 20th centuries.

Here is a video of me playing the Schottis efter Fiskebäcken.
