\u00a0 This\u00a0Vals fr\u00e5n Ragunda<\/strong> comes to us from the repertoire of Arvid Br\u00e4nnlund.\u00a0 \u00a0He was a fiddler born in 1880, died in 1960.\u00a0 \u00a0He played most of his life, having been taught by his father before he was 6 years old.<\/p>

\u00a0 Much of Br\u00e4nnlund’s repertoire he got from his father, either directly or indirectly from other fiddlers.\u00a0 \u00a0He left a legacy in his son, too, who also became a fiddler.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

I learned this tune from a J\u00e4mtland fiddler, Pelle Persson, when I was visiting V\u00e4rmland in 1974.\u00a0 \u00a0I liked it so much, that when I returned to California and resumed playing with American fiddlers, I gave this the name “Tim’s Favorite”.\u00a0 \u00a0 There are just too many great tunes I know now to have any single one called my favorite, though!<\/p>

\u00a0 To the left is a photo of the Ragunda area, which seemed to me to be one of the most beautiful places in Sweden when I first went through.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
