This waltz is found all over Scandinavia in different variations.\u00a0 \u00a0Perhaps both the simplest and best-known is this variation from the island province of \u00d6land.<\/p>

It comes from the repertoire ofAnders Johan Eriksson, a fiddler from Ryd, in Gl\u00f6mminge parish.\u00a0 He was born in 1848 and died in 1927.\u00a0 Along with many other tunes, this one was published in the \u00d6land section of Svenska L\u00e5tar, numbered #245.\u00a0 It is believed that the tune goes back at least to the 18th century.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

There are words with this version, similar to words that are found with the tune in other places.<\/p>

“Var det du, eller var det jag, som gick i valsen s\u00e5 bra?\u00a0 Vi super och vi rumler, vi danser \u00e5 vi tumler;\u00a0 O kom, sk\u00f6na flicka, g\u00e5 i valsen med mej!”<\/p>

“Was it you, or was it I, who did the waltz so well?\u00a0 We drink and we stagger, we dance and we tumble;\u00a0 O come, pretty girl, go in the waltz with me!”<\/p>
