\u00a0 This\u00a0Schottis efter Fiskeb\u00e4cken<\/strong> is a typical tune from the maritime province of Bohusl\u00e4n, on the west coast of Sweden next to Norway.\u00a0 \u00a0Bohusl\u00e4n is noted for its extensive\u00a0sk\u00e4rg\u00e5rd<\/strong>, or archipelago of thousands of islands.<\/p>

A fiddler named Niklas Henriksson had a reputation among fiddlers in his region, and he was nicknamed “Fiskeb\u00e4cken” after his town.\u00a0 His repertoire included many kinds of tunes not found elswhere in Sweden, as they were picked up from sailors from Poland, Germany, Denmark, Norway, and other countries bordering the North Sea.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Little is known about Fiskeb\u00e4cken other than his name, and that he was of a generation of fiddlers from the late 19th to early 20th centuries.<\/p>
