\u00a0\u00a0Silkesvalsen<\/strong>, or “The Silk Waltz<\/strong>“, is a lovely dance tune from the town of \u00c4lvdalen, in Dalarna.<\/p>

I first learned it in 1974 in Sweden, and it was immediately picked up by my American friends upon my return home.\u00a0 It became a regular part of my Swedish repertoire on both fiddle and nyckelharpa over the years.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

I remembered it as being in the key of A minor, and used to play it that way all the time.\u00a0 \u00a0When I had the chance to play it with Swedes, though, I found that G minor was the traditional key.<\/p>
