Barkbr\u00f6dsl\u00e5ten\u00a0<\/strong>is a tune from the town of Leksand, the province of Dalarna.\u00a0 \u00a0It is named for a period of famine when people had to make bread using powdered tree bark to extend their stores of flour.<\/p>

\u00a0 In Leksand, people would go door to door collecting food to give to those who had none, and fiddlers in the group are said to have played this tune during the collections.<\/p>
