This\u00a0G\u00e5ngl\u00e5t fr\u00e5n Norra Halland<\/strong> no doubt has a local name, but I never learned it.\u00a0 In 1977 I wrote to a fiddler’s group in the city of G\u00f6teborg, explaining that I would be traveling there with a small group of Americans, and if they could let me know about any festivals going on at that time.\u00a0 \u00a0To my surprise, the answer was that nothing was planned, but it was a great excuse to put together a festival!\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>

\u00a0 The festival came about, in the northern part of the province of Halland in the southwest corner of Sweden.\u00a0 This tune was used as the main walking tune for the fiddlers’ march at the event.<\/p>

\u00a0 I have identified the tune with this name ever since.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In the 1970’s I published a monthly collection of tunes arranged for two-part harmony, called “The Twin Fiddle Treasury”.\u00a0 \u00a0About half the approximately 200 tunes were Swedish, and this tune was among them.<\/p>

\u00a0 I was surprised and pleased to find a YouTube video of some (evidently) Finnish players playing this G\u00e4ngl\u00e5t fr\u00e5n Norra Halland<\/strong>, and crediting me with the arrangement!\u00a0 \u00a0Here<\/a> is the link.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
