Fjusn\u00e4svalsen\u00a0<\/strong>is a waltz composed by Jon Erik Hall, a masterful fiddler from Northern H\u00e4lsingland.\u00a0 \u00a0He named the tune for the little place where he lived most of his life.<\/p>

\u00a0 He was born in 1877, and died in 1948.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

\u00a0 The version of the waltz I present here is not exactly the way Hall composed it.\u00a0 \u00a0I learned it from Eric Sahlstr\u00f6m, who played it beautifully on the nyckelharpa.\u00a0 His version is what I play, with just a few note differences here and there.<\/p>

\u00a0 The biggest difference is that I play the reprises in the order AABBCC, as Sahlstr\u00f6m did.\u00a0 \u00a0H\u00e4lsingland fiddlers typically play it\u00a0 AABBACCA or AABBACC.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Here<\/a> is a link to a YouTube recording of Thore H\u00e4rdelin playing the tune in harmony with his daughter, Thuva with some accompaniment.\u00a0 They are playing the tune as Hall wrote it sometime around 1920.<\/p>
