This tune, a bridal march, is from Öje, a village not far from the town of Malung, in the province of Dalarna.
The title refers to the chapel in the village, built in 1830. Once known for its leather and clothing manufacture, Öje is primarily a tourist town now.
Often just called “Öje Brudlåt”, this tune was published in one of the first popular collections of Swedish fiddle music in 1956. It has remained in the common repertoire ever since.
On YouTube, here is an excellent recording of two outstanding Dalarna fiddlers playing this tune.
