På Väg till Timmerhuggning i Älvdalen

This tune is a Gånglåt from  Dalarna.   A fiddler named Göras Anders, from the village of Östbjörka there, played it, and recorded it in 1980.   He was born in 1906, and was a prominent player in that region.

His son, Göras Leif, said that his father did not really know the proper name for the tune, but learned it from a fiddler on the way to cutting timber in Älvdalen, so just gave it that name.

It is a typical gånglåt in the Dala style.   It is very popular, particularly with accordion players.  Here is a YouTube video of a policemen’s music group playing it.
