Polska efter Hjort Anders & Pekkos Per

Pekkos Per was a prominent “storspelman” (master fiddler) from the village of Bingsjö, in the province of Dalarna.   Hjort Anders was about 50 years younger, also from Bingjsö, and became the reigning storspelman there after Pekkos Per was gone.

This tune is very well-known in Dalarna, and is an excellent example of the 16th-note style of playing in Binsgsjö.  It is sometimes known as “Djävuls Polskan”, or “The Devil’s Polska”.

Here is a recording of a prominent fiddler from Dalarna playing this polska in an authentic Bingsjö style.
