Polska efter Johan Albert Pettersson

This polska was played as late as 1929 by then 77 year-old Johan Albert Pettersson.  He lived in the province of Västergötland in south Sweden.

The tune itself is unusual, lending itself to being played at different speeds for different dances.   It is a beautiful tune played very slowly, but can be played faster for a slängpolska, as well.   Also, it is in the key of A minor, but uses the F# note throughout.

Here is a very nice YouTube recording of the tune being played slowly by a Västergötland fiddler and an accompanying cellist.
