Svärdsjövisan

  Svärdsjö is a small village in the province of Dalarna.  It lies in the easternmost part of the province, almost to Gästrikland.

One of the foremost fiddlers from the area was Hjort Anders Olsson, from the nearby town of Bingsjö.  He was born in 1865, and lived well into the 20th century.  

Svärdsjövisan (the Air from Svärdsjö) was one of the tunes he was most known for.

There are many slight variations of the tune.  Here is a recording he made on cylinder around 1900 with another great fiddler.  And here is a good YouTube video of it being played by a current famous fiddler, Ole Hjorth.
