This little walking tune is from\u00a0Tors\u00e5ker<\/strong>, a little village in the Ovansj\u00f6 district of the province of G\u00e4strikland.\u00a0 \u00a0It is known to have been played by a great fiddler from there, called Hammarbergs-Hans.<\/p>

\u00a0 \u00a0It is called a\u00a0g\u00e5ngl\u00e5t<\/strong>, or walking tune, and when played at a relatively brisk pace is good for informal marching.\u00a0 \u00a0Played a little slower, and with solemnity, it makes a great bridal march, too.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

I learned this tune from a wonderful fiddler from Storvik, near Tors\u00e5ker.\u00a0 \u00a0 Stig Sj\u00f6din was his name, and he was a third-generation fiddler, extremely versed in the music and traditions of G\u00e4strikland.\u00a0 \u00a0Fiddle was his primary instrument, but he was also an excellent nyckelharpa player.<\/p>

Here<\/a> is a link to a YouTube video of this tune being played by a couple of musicians from the far north of Sweden.\u00a0 \u00a0They play it at a brisk pace, and with guitar and tenor saxophone instead of the traditional fiddle.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
