\u00a0 This is a rousing g\u00e5ngl\u00e5t (walking tune) from the very south of Sweden, the province of Sk\u00e5ne.\u00a0 It was composed in 1926 by Carl-Eric Berndt, a master of the wooden-shoe fiddle.\u00a0 \u00a0It was adopted by the Sk\u00e5ne fiddlers’ association, and is almost always played at official events in Sk\u00e5ne.<\/p>

\u00a0 The Wooden Shoe Fiddle is an instrument peculiar to Sk\u00e5ne.\u00a0 Because the land is so good for agriculture, there is llittle forest area, so not much wood available locally for woodworkers.<\/p>

\u00a0 There are peat bogs in Sk\u00e5ne that provide peat for burning, but the ground is soft and marshy.\u00a0 \u00a0Wooden shoes were the common footwear of farmers until modern times.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

When a pair of wooden shoes wore out, a violinmaker would often obtain one, and make it into a playable fiddle.<\/p>
